Vol.57 UK Graphics and Polish Design Scene issue

By interviewing both the leading designers and the newcomers of the design world, we re-examined the UK graphics of the last 20 years, and the verified future design scene respectively. In this issue, we will unravel the tale of Polish design.

It has been 15 years since we last featured Tomato, in our very first issue. Those whom are known as one of the most influential studios in the design world, from and The Designers Republic to add to the list, we have also interviewed Tappin Gofton and Kate Gibb known that have produced masterpieces of the time. Through these interviews, we are able to give you the glimpse of their unwavering mind set to cultivate various works. Along with this, 5 creators from the upcoming generation in the UK design will also be introduced as well. The second half is about the Polish poster graphics scene. Though the poster graphic culture has spread its essence during the communism period, here, we will prevail the show you how the Polish design scene continues to create new masterworks still now.

デザイン界をリードし続ける一線級クリエイターや新鋭デザイナーへの取材を通して、過去20年間のUK グラフィックを再検証し、未来のデザイン・シーンを検証する。後半では知られざる傑作が眠るポーランド・デザインを紹介。

巻頭では、創刊1号目以来、15年振りに特集したTomato、デザイン界に多大な影響を与えてきたThe Designers Republicをはじめ、Tappin GoftonやKate Gibbといった巨匠クリエイターを取材。各人のインタビューを通して、彼らの揺るぎないもの創り精神を垣間見ることができるだろう。また、UKデザインの次世代を担う5組のクリエイターも合わせて紹介する。後半特集では、共産主義時代に広まったポスター・グラフィック文化のエッセンスを踏襲しながらも、新たな名作を生み出し続けているポーランドのデザイン・シーンの“今”を徹底解剖した。

表紙には、Tomatoの創始者のひとり、John Warwickerによるカスタム・タイポグラフィを採用。
