San Francisco represents Western culture in the U.S. Since San Francisco is close to Silicon Valley, the land prices have skyrocketed due to the Internet bubble in the past several years. Meanwhile, the DNA of the city that used to be the base for social change such as Beat Generation and Summer of Love generates hippie, no brake piste, skateboard and third wave coffee cultures, and blends into everyday life.
