Vol.89 Renovation Design Styles issue

This issue features on the revitalization of buildings throughnrenovation.

The first chapter, it looks at the concept and case studies of renovation design around the world in various countries. It is interesting to see methods of not only changing the interior but also revitalizing the building itself, such as the use of waste materials, the utilization of rooftops, and the conversion of the building's exterior. It is also noteworthy that cases and ideas of renovation and revitalization are becoming more prevalent in China and Korea.

The second chapter, we look back on the Ace Hotel as a case study of a hotel that has created a sense of value through renovation, and in Japan, we focus on "Matsumoto Jujo," a hotel that is also created as a revitalized hotel. From these cases of revitalized hotels in Japan and the U.S., the reader can learn about the concept of renovation design.

The third chapter, we also introduce actual case studies of buildings that architects have worked on, mainly their own residences that they themselves designed.
